RSV (Respiratory syncytial Virus) Source: Dr Yougran Chung, MD Pediatric Pulmonologist
I thought it might be useful to write a brief description of what RSV is and how it can affect us all, particularly infants, children, adults, and seniors alike, anyone who may be immune compromised.
RSV has been in the news over the last few weeks. Our hospitals are overwhelmed with cases and the public message is to wear a mask, wash your hands etc. There is no conventional medical treatment for RSV other than mechanical removing the mucous that can block the air passages in our bodies. Infants have tiny passages, and they can become blocked easily as of course they cannot discharge the mucous on their own.
Why is this happening now? Dr. Chung, Pediatric Pulmonologist states that there is “Immunity Debt, lack of immune defense to RSV.” The Immune system works by recognition and repetition. As there has been no exposure during the Pandemic due to masking, social distancing, and virtual learning.
No vaccine exists for respiratory syncytial virus. But these lifestyle habits can help prevent the spread of this infection: Wear a mask when in public to avoid exposure, Wash hands often, avoid exposure, do not smoke, clean hard surfaces, wash children’s toys regularly,
Homeopathy has played a role in epidemics and pandemics. During the 1918 Spanish flu, there were 24,000 documented cases, allopathically had a mortality rate of 28.2%, homoeopathy had a mortality of 1.05%.
Can Homeopathy Help? Yes. There is no specific Allopathic medicine to treat RSV, RSV can have recurrences during the same season, and RSV in infants can later develop into asthma.
A national practice study in France showed there is a role for homeopathy as it can shorten the duration and prevent complications and can prevent recurrence and prevent asthma. (LePediatre,July2004).
